The class Reptilia includes thousands of species, and the husbandry requirements of these species are extremely varied. We want to stress that the more you know about your particular animal, the better served your pets will be. It is important to note that many reptiles have requirements that are more difficult to meet than a dog or cat. In addition, many have a lifespan of ten or twenty years, if not longer. Contrary to what some people may believe, reptiles also require veterinary care. In order to provide the care required for a long and healthy life, it is important to consider these issues before choosing a reptile as your pet.

There is a tremendous amount of information on reptile husbandry available today. Our Monster Care pages are designed to assist you with proper care of your animals. We have also included links below to the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians and ZooBookSales.com. Also, check with your local bookstores or libraries. University libraries usually offer a wealth of knowledge on reptile care.
